The proto typical project usually fits within a couple of acres footprint. The typical layout uses a 2 story structure of which one can be below grade. A minimum height of 30 feet, floor to ceiling, is needed on the first floor to contain the large tanks and the acrylic tunnel. Second (and third) levels require standard height, 10-15 feet ceilings. Although, aesthetically, the projects fit naturally next to a body of water, functionally they do not need adjacency to water. The water source can be natural, from the ocean or from a deep water well, or it can be artificially manufactured from a public water source. A typical visit to the aquarium is 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours. Add to that for subsequent visits to retail and restaurants. The experience is highly interactive, using informative "headset guides" that let the visitor decide the level of information desired. The guided tour is available in several languages. Admission fees are typically $10 - $20 for non-discounted adult tickets and about half for children and students. There are tremendous opportunities for cross marketing within the complex itself, between the aquarium, the retail shop and the restaurant. Additionally, the project enjoys an enviable position as marketing partner of choice for businesses and organizations, including television and print media, locally and within the region, as well as nationally. |
